Analysis of the prisons' system of the Province of Avellino

The analysis of the prisons of the Province of Avellino aimed at providing a comprehensive picture of the current situation in that context, describing the different dimensions of living in a prison. The analysis has therefore focused on the cultural, educational, sporting and health care conditions of a prisoner, paying attention also to the legal framework through which these activities are conducted.

Furthermore, this research aimed at assessing how the current activities carried out in the prisons of the Province of Avellino are aligned with the function assigned by the Italian Constitution to the imprisonment, that is to re-educate re-integrate prisoners. This aspect is part of the process of modernization and cultural transformation that involves the prisons.
