FGB launches the European Open Innovation Platform

Innovation demand and supply

FGB is the European partner of the USAID’s led initiative Global Innovation Exchange a global online marketplace for innovations, funding, insights, resources and conversations, allowing the world to better work together to address humanity’s greatest challenges.

The Exchange was co-created with over 100 international organizations from across government, business, academia and civil society who wanted to help tackle some challenges such as helping good idea to get the right resources; connect the supply of solutions with the actual demand for them; rapidly expand the most successful innovations and bring them around the world.

FGB, as the only European partner, developed a tailored microsite devoted to Open Innovation in Europe aiming at connecting demand and supply of innovation in Europe. Thanks to this platform, FGB intends to facilitate the acceleration of local ecosystems for innovation by connecting them transnationally through hubs, networks, and platforms for the exchange of knowledge, technology, resources and talents.

How it works

Topics of interest of the platform are Health, Economic Growth and Trade, Digital Development and Enabling Technologies, Agriculture and Education.

The platform is animated through:

  • Demand Section in which the most interesting funding opportunities will be published. Funding opportunities could be filtered according to funding type (money, incubation, training) topic of interest, and geographical area. Users can apply to funding opportunity directly through the platform.
  • Supply Section in which all the startups and organizations can add their own innovative ideas, services and products. Moreover, users can join a community of innovators, mentors, researchers, and stay connected on innovations, resources, insights.
