Manuelita Mancini wins the prize 'Woman is Innovation'

Manuelita Mancini, director of Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, has been awarded the prize Donna è Innovazione (Woman is Innovation), promoted by the media observatory TuttiMedia and the magazine Media Duemila to shed light on women who make a difference, not only in the technological and corporate world, but also in everyday life, breaking obsolete patterns and fostering innovations and good practices.

The prize is one of the sections of the award Nostalgia di Futuro (Nostalgia for the Future), which has been also conceived by the same media observatory to reward people and companies that have distinguished themselves in the field of digital culture. At the heart of this year's edition there were themes such as pluralism, regulation, copyright and journalism in the age of artificial intelligence. The event was streamed live on the channels of the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers (Fieg).

According to Derrick de Kerckhove, scientific director of TuttiMedia and MediaDuemila, it was a great opportunity to reflect on the complexity of transition in a social system which sees the interaction of two different codes: "on one side, human language, a code based on the creation of meaning; on the other, algorithms, a code based on the logic of commands".

De Kerckhove continued saying that artificial intelligence "is bound not only to stay, but to grow and improve exponentially. Even if it changes and adapts to our needs, it is nevertheless transforming us, our environment, tools and services".
