Social innovation, our expertise at OECD's new report launch event
On 25 June 2025, Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini will participate in the webinar Starting, Scaling and Sustaining Social Innovation: Evidence and Impact of the European Social Fund, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The event will mark the launch of the new OECD report on the topic, and will take place both in Brussels and online from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM (CEST).
As social innovation gains recognition as a key approach to tackling societal challenges while generating economic value, governments at all levels are exploring new, collaborative strategies. For nearly 70 years, the European Social Fund (ESF) has played a pivotal role in supporting employment, education, and social welfare initiatives across Europe. Since the beginning of the 2021-2027 programming period, the ESF has placed an even stronger emphasis on social innovation.
Based on an in-depth analysis of 96 ESF-funded projects from the 2014-2020 programming period and extensive stakeholder consultation, the new OECD report introduces the "3S Framework": Starting, Scaling, and Sustaining Social Innovation, providing practical tools and guidance to inform future ESF programming and support public and private actors across Europe in developing innovative, cross-sectoral solutions.
Patrizia Saroglia, Head of the Public Policy and Social Innovation Unit at Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, will represent FGB as a speaker during a panel discussion. She will be joined by Ruth Paserman, Director at the European Commission's DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion; Filipe Almeida, President of Portugal Social Innovation; and Armelle Ledan, European Affairs Consultant from France.
