Poverty and social exclusion in rural areas

The study provides an analysis of the main poverty and social exclusion features in rural areas, and of the local, national and European policies having a positive impact in the fight against these phenomena. The sample of geographic areas and European social models is represented by Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, France, Germany, UK, Ireland, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania and Norway. The analysis is based on statistical data at both European and national level and on studies made in each chosen country, which also include case studies on social groups at risk of poverty and examples of social policies measures identified as good practices.
