IESS - Improving Effectiveness in Social Security
The purpose of the IESS project, proposed by the Italian Ministry of the Economy and Finance, Department of the Treasury (MEF DT) in partnership with Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale (INPS), Fondazione G. Brodolini (FGB) and Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion (CESI) is to assess the cost effectiveness of the Italian pension system in the short and in the long run, analyzing the capacity and limits of the design produced by the several reforms introduced in the last two decades in order to achieve financial sustainability, benefits adequacy and social inclusion. The project will analyze whether the implemented cost saving pension reforms guarantee an actual cost effectiveness of the pension system or, on the contrary, could engender some negative impact on macroeconomic equilibrium and individual wellbeing whenever complementary measures are not contextually phased in.
