Citizenship competence in vocational education, our new study for Cedefop

Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini has recently been awarded a framework contract by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) to conduct the study Citizenship education in initial vocational education and training.

The three-year research project aims to deepen understanding of how initial vocational education and training (IVET) systems in Europe support the development of citizenship competences. It will also provide evidence and best practices to inform policy-making and implementation.

The study will be carried out in eight EU countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Czechia, Estonia, and Italy. At the EU level, the outputs will include a strategic guide for EU-VET policymakers and providers, along with an analysis of other EU-level activities that support the development of citizenship competences in IVET, including an assessment of opportunities to streamline EU funding in this area.
