Change the climate, change the mountain, change the tourism

FGB is among the organisers of the first international Hackathon specifically dedicated to climate change and its effects in Aosta Valley. Climathon Courmayeur will start Saturday October 26^th at 2:00pm at the Courmayeur Sport Center where it will continue until 1:00pm of Sunday 27^th . A 24 hours marathon made of working sessions, in between of which there will be motivational speeches and climate change related topic presentations.

A completely free event that holds two main goals: to raise awareness regarding topics of environmental sustainability and calling citizens to action developing innovative solutions, based on their personal knowledge and background with the target of drastically reducing or to tackle climate change and its effects on local territories.

Participants will be required to work on one of the three proposed challenges:

Tomorrow’s tourism
Safe tourism
Courmayeur carbon neutrality

In order to achieve practical and concrete solutions it’s important that different aspects of everyday life is discussed therefore different actors need to meet and share their point of view and knowledge. For this reason everybody is eligible for registration regardless of their background and level of competence and knowledge in specific sectors.

We’d like to see students, entrepreneurs, scholars, actors of the touristic arena and policy makers. Participants can register singularly or as a team.

The best ideas will be developed and will be put to the test on the territory of Courmayeur. It will also receive a prize, thanks to the sponsors: €3.000 for the best idea and €1.000 for the second and third ones. All participants will receive a series of gadgets and benefits, among which discounts for Skyway Monte Bianco and QC Terme Pré Saint Didier.

The event involves and engages different players of the territory: Climathon Courmayeur is organized by the Comune of Courmayeur and Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, in collaboration with the Regione Valle d’Aosta, CVA Trading SPA, Skyway Monte Bianco and the support of FAO Mountain Partnership, QC Terme Pré Saint Didier, Grivel, VDA Yoga and the technical support of ARPA Valle d'aosta, Fondazione Montagna Sicura and Pépinières d’entreprises Vallée d’Aoste.
