Active ageing policies for increasing employability of workers aged over 55 in Italy and Europe

On Monday the 29th of May from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm the Final Conference of the project  "Policies for an Aged Workforce in EU - PAWEU" will be held at the Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini premise in Rome. The aim of the conference is to open a debate on National-level and firm-level policies aimed at fostering active ageing for increasing employability of workers aged over 55 in Italy and Europe.

Active ageing policies, i.e., a set of measures suited for increasing employability of workers aged over 55 and easing the continuation of the working activity. Among the set of measures which the workshop focus on, are included:

  • National policies for reconciling smooth transition from work to retirement, e.g., policies for flexible part-time (coupled with a share of pension benefits) for older workers; 
  • Workplace based policies, i.e. good practices by firms for reducing the effort by an ageing workforce (e.g. internal flexibility, movement across tasks when the worker gets older, workplace facilities); 
  • Lifelong learning policies, issued by public institutions or directly managed by the firms.

During the conference, the final results of the project "Policies for an Aged Workforce in EU - PAWEU" will be presented. The PAWEU project is co-financed by th European Union - DG Employment, Social affairs and Inclusion and is led by the Italian National Insurance Agency (INPS), in partnership with Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, the Romanian Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Protection and Elderly (MoLFSPE) and the The European Social Observatory (OSE).

At the end of the Final Conference, participants are invited to attend a working lunch in the Fondazione Brodolini venue.
