Strengthening Capacities of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Stakeholders to Access Bank Financing and Services
The aim of the project Strengthening Capacities of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Stakeholders to Access Bank Financing and Services is to accelerate the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh, especially SMEs in rural and nonurban areas, by improving their access to medium-and long-term credit. The overall objective is to support the implementation of the Second Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project (SMEDP2) and provide the necessary resources to improve financial assistance to SMEs, thus leading to an increase in investments and production.
A key objective is the enhancement of managerial and technical capacity of Bangladesh Bank (BB) and SME Foundation (SMEF), implementing agencies of the technical assistance.
The SMEDP2 project has been designed to further revitalize financing for SMEs in Bangladesh and provide a broad range of support initiatives to accelerate SMEs development. The project outputs are as follows:
- Establishment of incubation facilities
- Development of SMEs clusters
- Strengthening women entrepreneurship
- Strengthening capacities of implementing agencies
