Mapping IT Skills Demand in the EU
The project Centres for Migration and Development – Pakistan: IT sector labour market demands in EU Member States aims to contribute to Pakistan's socio-economic development through legal migration channels, and to strenghten institutions promoting safe and legal migration within the EU Talent Partnership. The Action aligns with international gender and human rights standards, the German Skilled Labour Strategy (2022) and complements the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, BMZ) 2030 initiative.
The study's overarching objective is to conduct a labour market analysis of IT occupations within the IT sector and across sectors in EU Member States, focusing on Germany, Italy, Finland, and Ireland to identify demand for qualified IT professionals and required skills, address labour shortages, and strengthen IT industry competitiveness.
The following outputs will be developed as part of the project: Inception report; written summary of reviewed literature and data sources; identification of key knowledge gaps and relevance to the IT sector LMA, including big data analysis; Standardised questionnaires, with specific sections tailored on the countries; interviews reports; Interim report; final datasets, with sector and region-specific insights and interpretation supported by both primary and secondary data; final report; and presentation of results.
