The project Consolidating deep and inclusive social innovation ecosystems (Consolid8) paves the way for the integration of social innovation actors in innovation networks in 15 European countries' ecosystems, using the quadruple helix collaboration.
From the challenges identified in 5 pioneering ecosystems with different innovation performances – strong innovator: Ireland; moderate innovators: Italy, Greece, Slovenia; emerging innovator: Romania – the project will develop 5 capacity building programs for target groups coming from both the social innovation landscape and the classic innovation ecosystems.
In Italy, the capacity building programme will include:
- A call for ideas for social innovators in 3 Italian cities, to address a specific challenge and to be developed/showcased Hackathons.
- 3 online workshops for social enterprises to present the sources of finance most suited for social businesses and for each step of the startup life-cycle.
- The development of a directory of alternative means of financing for social innovations and of a toolkit on impact investing for social enterprises.
The results of the 5 programs will be showcased during the Consolid8 festival, a European social innovation festival held each year in Brașov, Romania.
The lessons learned will feed into a follow-up European accelerator program targeting additional 10 ecosystems, which will be supported through a validated methodology for accelerating ecosystems.
Consolid8 aims to support ecosystem builders throughout Europe integrate social innovator actors in innovation ecosystems, but also integrate traditional innovation ecosystems actors in emerging social innovation ecosystems. The specific objectives of the project are to: enhance connectivity to innovation ecosystems of social innovation actors from 15 ecosystems with different innovation performance, widen access to alternative means of financing for social innovators in 5 ecosystems, and test social innovation models with potential of scaling up and replicability.
As a partner of the project, Fondazione Brodolini will implement the capacity building programme, carry out research activities on the Italian social innovation system, and analyse the results of the research activities developed in all the project partner countries.
