Women Transport Workers

The study Women Transport Workers. Making the transport sector fit for women to work in - How to use the twin transition for the benefit of women in transport through gender mainstreaming? is part of a wider project of the European Transport Federation on Delivering Fair Transport for All (DFT4A).
The study focuses on gender mainstreaming in the transport sector, particularly on the role of women in the context of the twin digital and green transitions.
The goal is to analyse how the transport sector can be made more inclusive for female workers, highlighting the opportunities offered by ongoing technological and environmental transformations.
By analysing employment data and enacted policies, both at the European Union level and for individual countries, the study tries to answer the following research questions: what are the effects that digital and green transformations will have on women in the sector; what issues need to be addressed by policymakers to favour women’s participation in the sector within the context of the Twin Transition; what role can social partners play.
