Gender analysis of the economic downturn and financial crisis
Fondazione Brodolini delivered to the European Parliament, the study ‘Gender Analysis of the Economic Downturn and Financial Crisis’ (2011).
The study provides a gender analysis of the aspects of the economic downturn and the financial crisis at the European level, carrying out a statistical analysis of macro and microdata, as well as giving a gender-sensitive overview of the European crisis. The study identifies the most gender-sensitive areas of intervention, since neither the consequences of the crisis nor the policies adopted to fight against it are gender-neutral. Finally, the study outlines that an ex-ante analysis of gender impact (gender audit) of political and economic measures is fundamental in order to avoid negative repercussions for women.
