The project aims at studying movements of workers (in and out) in four partner countries (Italy, Romania, UK and Poland). In particular, its objective is to highlight in detail the extent and the characteristics of the flows of migrant workers in these four countries, as well as to shape potential methodologies to be followed by social security institutions for recording information about migrant and mobile workers.
The action is divided into three phases:
- Phase 1: information exchange through the compilation of four country reports and exchange during two transnational meetings. The report will analyse for each country methodologies used by social security institutions for recording information regarding migrant workers and try to identify the characteristics of migration flows as collected in administrative records, with the aim of improving knowledge about the main features of migrant and mobile workers.
- Phase 2: comparative and multivariate analysis of data on migrant workers in selected countries through the implementation of microeconometric analyses to study the features of flows. This has the two-fold aim of increasing knowledge on migration flows in the selected countries and of supporting social security institutions in foreseeing the amount and typology of migrant workers that will be entitled to welfare benefits in the near future. Furthermore, guidelines will be drafted on how to improve administrative procedures for collecting information about migrant workers.
- Phase 3: synthesis and dissemination of results through the drafting of a project report and organisation of a final dissemination conference that is going to be held in Brussels in January 2014.
