Period
-
The study evaluates the risks of poverty and social exclusion that affect different types of lone-parent families, through case studies in 13 EU countries. It also provides information on gender aspects of poverty, since single parents are predominantly female headed. Moreover, the study analyses the reasons why lone-parent households experience higher poverty risks as well as the barriers they have to face in order to access employment and other means of social inclusion; it also examines how Member States have tried to address the problem, especially by taking lone parents off welfare dependency and offering them job opportunities; finally, it identifies best practices.
