The objective of the study was to provide the European Commission with information on the impact of the different policy options or a possible EU initiative in the area of coordination of social security schemes, in particular with regard to the revision of the current EU provisions on entitlement to unemployment benefits and export of family benefits. The impact has been assessed in terms of administrative burden and administrative costs for national administrations, as well as for families (in the case of FB) and workers (in the case of UB), and in terms of secondary effects, such as possible family reunification (for FB) and change of behavior for workers and jobseekers (UB).

In order to implement the study the Consortium realised a desk research and field research (interviews with public Administrations and local stakeholders including Trade Unions) in 8 EU countries. The results of the desk and field research have been integrated in a comparative analysis and detailed assessment reports.
