Discussing citizenship competence and gender equality in Brussels
On Monday 26 May 2025, Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini will host the Knowledge Apéro Building citizenship competence through diversity, equality and inclusion, an informal afterwork event to explore how diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) competences contribute to the development of active, informed, and responsible citizenship, particularly in the context of education and training.
The event will take place at FGB's Brussels premises (19A Avenue Marnix Building A, 3rd floor) from 6.00 PM to 8.00 PM and is part of the EU Diversity Month 2025, an initiative of the European Commission to promote mental health and wellbeing at the workplace.
Knowledge Apéros are after-work informal gatherings organised by FGB where invited guests share ideas over a glass of wine, fostering inspiration and amplifying the value generated by individuals, institutions and companies.
"As political disengagement, digital inequality, and rising misinformation challenge democratic participation, it becomes essential to integrate DEI awareness into education and training strategies" explains Barbara De Micheli, expert in diversity, equality and inclusion and Coordinator of FGB's Social Justice Unit.
During the event, practitioners and researchers will share insights from recent initiatives and studies, including Cedefop's upcoming study on citizenship education in Vocational Education and Training (VET), Fondazione Brodolini's Master's programme in Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDM), and the project Beyunbi-Beyond Unconsious Bias, which addresses unconscious bias among European managers.
The event is open to both invited and external guests, upon previous online registration via Eventbrite. Please note that FGB's Brussels office is located in a historic building which regrettably has some architectural barriers – namely steps at the entrance and very small lifts – and is not fully accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
