Vision on defence related skills for Europe today and tomorrow: new report now available!

How to ensure the availability of highly advanced and rapidly changing technological skills for the defence industry? And how the creation of a common European defence skills strategy will contribute to this endeavour?

This report presents the European defence industrial skills landscape and highlights the skills which will be needed in future, while also identifying the defence market dynamics and technological development trends shaping these requirements. Moreover, it identifies defence-related skills gaps and shortages and highlights challenges with different sets of skills, in different defence domains and across the stages of the defence equipment life-cycle.

The research is part of the COSME funded project “Defence-related skills study: Building evidence on skills shortages, gaps and mismatches and defining the sector's strategy on skills” which was awarded to RAND Europe and Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini.

The report is available here.

The outcome of the work of the European Defence Skills Partnership on a common vision on defence-related skills and the way forward will be discussed in a high level conference on 13 March 2019.
