About LLT

Law, Labor & Tech (LLT) is a leading team of legal professionals and labor law scholars, led by Professor Michele Faioli of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. In strategic partnership with Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, LLT drives transnational projects across industrial relations, labor markets, social security, and global trade.

Our Focus: Research & Digital Labor Lawyering

LLT's core activities revolve around the intersection of technology and labor law. We specialize in AI, robotics, and the tech industry's impact on firm-level collective bargaining and innovation. Our unique approach merges rigorous legal and technological research to offer comprehensive insights for attorneys, legislators, social scientists, and policymakers.

We actively analyse current and emerging legal challenges in the AI workplace, aiming to influence research, legislation, policy, and litigation. From digital platforms to AI, blockchain to digital wallets, and drones to robots, LLT's experts are dedicated to improving the design, deployment, and regulation of tech & labor law to maximise their beneficial uses and societal impact.

Scientific Chair: Michele Faioli

Michele Faioli is an Associate Professor at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, with tenure as a full professor. He teaches courses in labor relations and comparative/EU labor law, including industrial relations, social security, and tech law. Professor Faioli's comparative research focuses on the impact of collective bargaining on labor relations, particularly concerning AI and robots in the workplace. As a Visiting Fellow at the ILR School of Cornell University and Fordham Law School, he investigated international labor rights, global trade, and union strategies. At the CRILDA research center's Laboratory on the Equivalence of National Collective Bargaining Agreements (Laboratorio sull'Equivalenza dei CCNL), he developed the research methodology and oversees comparative investigations into national and decentralised collective bargaining, often in collaboration with ANAC and CONSIP. Michele Faioli has written extensively on tech and labor law (see his book, Mansioni e macchina intelligente, Giappichelli, 2018), undeclared work, social security, pension funds, and other topics for various law reviews and journals. Since his 2018 appointment to the CNEL (Consiglio Nazionale dell'Economia e del Lavoro), he has also conducted investigations into the possible social applications of blockchain to the EU labor market and social security systems. Professor Faioli chairs the European School of Industrial Relations (SERI - FGB) and directs the EUROFOUND Italian Observatory.
