Turkey: Tredaş & Trepaş - Equal Opportunities in Power & Energy
As part of the EBRD Frameworks for Access to Employment & Skills, the objective of this project is to support TREDAŞ & TREPAŞ, the two main Turkish electric power companies, in strengthening Equal Opportunities policies and practices to improve career opportunities for women in the firm and increase women’s participation in key areas of the workforce, helping the client with the following:
a) Review HR/other company policies and practices to identify chances to strengthen equal opportunities;
b) Develop operational recommendations for attraction and recruitment, with a view to increase the ratio of female to male employees in technician, engineering and managerial positions. Specific attention will be paid to suggest initiatives aimed to increase the talent pool of female technicians, i.e. via partnership with TVET institutions.
c) Review and distribute the Employee Handbook, including provisions on employees’ rights and work-life balance practices.
d) Review the Company Scorecards, increasing accountability in terms of Employees’ satisfaction and increase female labour force.
e) Explore effective tools and potential measures in order to reduce the gender pay gaps within the companies as, for example, the Logib Tool.
f) Explore gender sensitive staff feedback mechanism.
Particular attention is paid to TREDAŞ & TREPAŞ Policies and Practice, Communication and Outreach.
- Assessment: at the beginning of the technical support, review all the necessary documentation, including information provided by the company, necessary to complement their analysis.
- Recommendations: following the assessment, make strategic recommendations, including actions which they consider necessary to improve carrier opportunities and reach the targets agreed by TREDAŞ & TREPAŞ for women’s participation in the labour force.
- Discussion with client: discuss the recommendations with the client and agree on an action plan to structure the technical support.
- Support to implementation: provide targeted support to the implementation of recommendations agreed with the client.
