AI in the automotive sector: our support to Cedefop

As part of our framework contract supporting the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) in the development of skills analysis and intelligence in Europe, FGB will conduct a foresight study on the impact of artificial intelligence on the automotive manufacturing sector.

"While addressing broader social, economic, and technological factors influencing a human-centred AI transition, this foresight exercise explores how AI adoption will reshape employment, job roles, and skill requirements across the industry" explains Liga Baltina, Head of FGB's Labour Market & Skill Research Unit, which will conduct the study.

The main objectives of the study will be, specifically, to identify current and emerging skill needs related to AI in automotive manufacturing, and explore how management strategies, HR practices, and social dialogue can ensure a fair and inclusive digital transformation. Moreover, recommendations to support employers and workers in effectively navigating AI-driven changes will be developed.

The foresight exercise will involve two online survey rounds and expert workshops, and it will be one of several sectoral studies for Cedefop: two additional exercises will follow, focusing on geriatric nursing and the creative industries.
