The objective of the project is to draft a report that analyses how the economic trends and the policy context have affected wage developments in respect to the gender gaps and the gender pay gap in the Italian labour market since 2006. In particular, it aims at identifing the implications for action by the government, social partners and public and private sector enterprises that could help accelerate the closing of the gender pay gap through a levelling up process that takes account of the national context. It includes:

  • descriptive and econometric analyses of the gender gaps and gender pay gap by sector, by contractual arrangements and by number of hours worked over time.
  • the analysis of the legal, policy and institutional framework in Italy and the impact of the most recent reforms.
  • the framework of collective bargaining and presents some results from the analysis on how the gender pay gap is tackled in collective agreements, distinguishing between sectoral and decentralised collective agreements.
