Driving change through gendered innovation: in Brussels with GILL
As a partner in the Gendered Innovation Living Labs (GILL) project, Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini will participate in the conference Driving Change Through Gendered Innovation: Insights & Legacy from GILL. The event will take place in Brussels on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, marking the conclusion of the three-year project.
GILL has been funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme, with the aim of designing a gender methodology for smart innovation and entrepreneurship in the areas of health and resilience, and the green and digital transitions.
Coordinated by the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), GILL's activities have been carried out within European Living Labs – collaborative environments designed to amplify societal needs, foster inclusive participation and bridge gaps at community level – involving academia, the public sector, industry and citizens.
Together with Politecnico di Torino, Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini has taken part in the project as Italian partner, focusing in particular on the refinement of the methodology. In addition, FGB has conducted experimentation in two hubs, providing training and tailored advisory services to innovative start-ups in the fields of artificial intelligence, new information technologies and green economy sectors.
The GILL final conference, which will run from 09.00 am to 4.00 pm at the BIP Meeting Center in Brussels (Rue Royale 2-4 Koningsstraat, 1000), will bring together representatives of European institutions, research organisations and innovation networks.
During the event, the main findings from GILL's research and Living Labs will be presented, and participants will have the opportunity to engage with the tools, services and learning platforms tested in the GILL hubs, designed to promote more inclusive innovation practices.
"Over GILL's three years of activity, 15 pilot cases have been developed in eight European countries, including Italy, to test and scale co-creation and co-design methodologies that promote new gender approaches to innovation and entrepreneurship" explains Barbara De Micheli, Coordinator of the Social Justice Area and GILL Project Lead for Fondazione Brodolini.
"Through presentations, discussions and interactive sessions, the event will highlight how gender and diversity can be systematically integrated into the green transition, digital transformation, and health and resilience, with positive effects both on innovation outcomes and on social impact" she concludes.
