First results from Don't Gig Up, Never! national reports

The country state of the art reports of Don’t Gig Up, Never! project are available online on the website of the project edited by Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini.

With the launch of the results of its first research phase, the project, co-funded by the European Commission's DG EMPL and coordinated by Fondazione Brodolini, celebrates the halfway of its journey started in October 2021.

The research activities carried out within the project analyse the state of the art of the gig economy and the digital labour platforms in seven European member states, namely Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Estonia and Sweden.

The project partners elaborated seven country reports aimed at updating the results of Don’t Gig Up! project with regard to the platform workers’ employment and social conditions, the national political and academic debates, the national features, trends and challenges, the relevant legislative and case law developments, and the social partners activities.

These reports inform the second research phase of the project, which is aimed at producing national case studies focusing on lesser-known labour platforms providing services outside the passenger transport and goods delivery sector. The results of these studies also form a basis for the comparative report and policy recommendations that will be issued at the end of the project.
